As Realtors, Rejection is something we come across on a daily basis but up until today, I have taken this very personally.. I would sit around and wonder, "why didn't that seller choose me to list the property" - Was it my color? Did I say something offensive? I would play this "Why?" over and over again in my mind - Didn't do much for my self-confidence :)
Now, that I have started reading, "The success principles" by Jack Canfield, I've learned to "Reject Rejection" - Here's an excerpt from his book which makes SOOO much sense.. He states that rejection is a myth..that's right, "it is a myth"! To get over rejection, you have to realize that rejection doesn't exist. Rejection is simply a concept you hold in your head. I mean, think about it. For example, If you ask Mr. Seller to list his property with you and he says no, you didn't have this listing before you asked him, and you don't have a listing after you asked him. The situation didn't get any worse..it stayed the same..."The truth is, you never have anything to lose by asking, and because there is something to possibly gain, by all means ask". Whenever you ask anyone for anything, remember the following; "Some will, some won't;so what....someone's waiting(SWSWSWSW) Out there, someone is waiting for you and your ideas. It is simply a number's game. You have to keep asking until you get a yes. The yes is out there waiting! "What you want wants you" You just have to hang in there long enough to eventually get a yes"
"Ask and the door shall be opened unto you" Knock and ye shall find!! So, if one person tells you no, ask someone else. The secret to success is NOT TO GIVE UP! The next time when someone says, "NO", you say, "NEXT"! Keep on asking for business
"Never give up on your dream...Perseverance is all important. If you don't have the desire and belief in yourself to keep trying after you've been told you should quit, you'll never make it! (Tawani O'Dell- author of Back Roads)
Here's to a prosperous New Year!

I've Hired a Coach
To keep me accountable in my career, I have gone ahead and hired a coach. I don't know what how other Realtors feel out this but I believe it is the next step that I needed to take in my career. I've been having a tough time being accountable, disciplined and managing my time..
I know that my coach will work my butt off and that is exactly what I need in this stage of my career. All I have been hearing is how bad the market is and that is why business is not as good as it once was..But I just noticed that the Realtors who have had coaches have outdone most of us in this market!
It's time to take 100% responsibility for myself and take control of my future! and get that extra push I need to get going!
"Ninety-nine percent of all failures come from people who have a habit of making excuses"(G.Washington Carver) coz "The man who complains about the way the ball bounces is likely the one who dropped it"(Lou Holtz)!
Have a Prosperous New Year! and Be the Change!

Severe Winter Storm (continued)
So, the storm has finally come! No school! but Still had to wake up early, get out there and help hubby with the snow removal - He used the snowblower and my job was cleanup..It was still snowing when we went out and it took us a good 2 hours to get everything cleaned! I probably shud have listened to him and packed up and moved to Dallas! Oh well, we live and learn!
Now, it is time to relax - had a nice cup of hot chocolate, played Wii to find out my fitness age (I'm an old and weak person - 79 years old!) - Gonna stay home and try to relax but the laundry is waiting, dishes are waiting, husband is waiting (for lunch) and the kids are waiting (they wanna go sledding) - I Probably shud just push them down the driveway coz I am not planning on playing in the snow after working 2 hours IN the snow!
Being self-employed does come with its perks! I see a nice hot jacuzzi bath with my name on it so, Calgon, take me away!!!!!!!!

Winter in Wisconsin
It's not officially winter yet on the Calendar, but it sure has been feeling like it is for weeks. Now, here we are, awaiting a severe winter storm. It was supposed to start at 9pm but not a flake in site (except the flake that is sitting up at 10pm blogging) :)
Will there be school tomorrow? Will I have to wake up early and make lunch? Will I have to wake up early and shovel? Will I have to wake up early, make lunch, shovel and get the children to school? Or Will I get to sleep in for just a few more minutes? Life and its uncertainties! Stay tuned!

Facebook and Real Estate
I have been on Facebook for a while now and have 345 friends to show for that but how many of us Realtors joined Facebook to network with other Realtors and find ourselves going on there for "personal" business? I have in the past few months cut down the time I spent on Facebook because it is not INCOMING producing! Sure, I enter all my listings on there, but what is the likelihood that I can sell a home thru Facebook? 0? 1? Not sure about the outcome but I have decided to put my energy elsewhere. As a Realtor, my number one problem is time management because I don't have to report to myself.. I am my own boss - Therefore, I can goof off and not do a single thing, and stay in my robe and call it, "working out of the home"..It's time to take a step forward and do more incoming producing activities - no need to blame the market, the housing crisis, unemployment, etc.. because I am seeing Realtors having their best year yet in 2008 because they didn't let Negativity or other distractions stop them! Facebook is great to network, but if you are spending hours upon hours playing games, chatting, you are not beimg productive! "Design upon your major definite purpose in life and then organize all your activities around it" (Brian Tracy) So, as the saying goes, "I've heard there's going to be a recession; I've decided Not to Participate" :) Happy Networking! and Be a Success in whatever you do! Remember, you control your destiny!

Wii are Bonding
I never in a million years thought that I would buy a Wii due to the price but I am glad that I did this year. Not only is it allowing the family some bonding time but it also a great workout machine.. My favorite is Tennis. Talk about a workout! This was the family's Christmas Gift for the year but we just couldn't let that game sit under the tree for any longer.. Wii got impatient and opened it two weeks early but I am glad that we did!
Sure, the kids are not allowed to play on it for more than 2 hours but I love the fact that they have something that they can both play together on - Their barbie/tea parties days have been over for quite some time so Wii found a game that they can both enjoy and Bond! Now I just have to sell some more homes! :)
Merry Christmas to all of you!

Negativity on the market
With so much negativity in the Real Estate market, it is not surprising how many Realtors have left the business. Yes, the market is down, the economy is bad and homes are sitting on the market longer than normal..but how is your attitude? Is your attitude and the attitude of others around you helping you to succeed? Yesterday, I got my hands on a book by Jack Canfield, "The Success Principles" - How to get from Where you are to Where you want to be - Why haven't I come up on this book a year ago? Ok, that's being negative... so let me move on! Jack States in this book to "Take 100% responsibility for your Life"! and to drop out of the "ain't it awful club" - So here's what I am going to do! I won't speak any negativity about the Real Estate Market, if there is any talk in my office about it, I will just shut the door and continue to work! So for all those Realtors, business men, companies who are reading this blog, I want to challenge you to think positive, speak positively in the coming year and let's see a change in our life, in our marriage, in our relationships, in our business! Like I said earlier, "You must take responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but YOU CAN change yourself" (Jim Rohn -America's Foremost Business Philosopher)
