As Realtors, Rejection is something we come across on a daily basis but up until today, I have taken this very personally.. I would sit around and wonder, "why didn't that seller choose me to list the property" - Was it my color? Did I say something offensive? I would play this "Why?" over and over again in my mind - Didn't do much for my self-confidence :)
Now, that I have started reading, "The success principles" by Jack Canfield, I've learned to "Reject Rejection" - Here's an excerpt from his book which makes SOOO much sense.. He states that rejection is a myth..that's right, "it is a myth"! To get over rejection, you have to realize that rejection doesn't exist. Rejection is simply a concept you hold in your head. I mean, think about it. For example, If you ask Mr. Seller to list his property with you and he says no, you didn't have this listing before you asked him, and you don't have a listing after you asked him. The situation didn't get any worse..it stayed the same..."The truth is, you never have anything to lose by asking, and because there is something to possibly gain, by all means ask". Whenever you ask anyone for anything, remember the following; "Some will, some won't;so what....someone's waiting(SWSWSWSW) Out there, someone is waiting for you and your ideas. It is simply a number's game. You have to keep asking until you get a yes. The yes is out there waiting! "What you want wants you" You just have to hang in there long enough to eventually get a yes"
"Ask and the door shall be opened unto you" Knock and ye shall find!! So, if one person tells you no, ask someone else. The secret to success is NOT TO GIVE UP! The next time when someone says, "NO", you say, "NEXT"! Keep on asking for business
"Never give up on your dream...Perseverance is all important. If you don't have the desire and belief in yourself to keep trying after you've been told you should quit, you'll never make it! (Tawani O'Dell- author of Back Roads)
Here's to a prosperous New Year!
